Fair play to every single person involved.

11-year-old Celtic supporter Jay Beatty has held off some spectacular competition to win the Scottish Premiership’s Goal of the Month competition for January.

Beatty, from Armagh, won the public vote, hands down, for is cool, calm penalty at half-time of Celtic’s league match with Hamilton.

As we reported last week, the young fan, who has Down Syndrome, was invited along to the Hamilton vs. Celtic game as a very special guest of both clubs.

Despite losing 2-0 at home, Hamilton went the extra mile by adding Jay’s goal to the final tally. The club announced that the result of the game was 3-0 to Celtic on their official Twitter account. If you have not seen it yet, Beatty’s finish is ‘F’ [for fantastic] in the shortlist below.

His victory was proudly announced by former Celtic striker Georgios Samaras.

The Scottish Premiership released this video later in the day, showing the youngster watching Sky Sports News HQ as the news broke, and his reaction is priceless.

Jay is clearly delighted and receives congratulations from Georgios Samaras and Neil Lennon. A lovely gesture from all, it’d bring a tear to a glass eye.
