Jack Wilshere manages to praise Harry Arter and insult Bournemouth at once

Poor Jack. He means well.

Patrick McCarry

We are sure most Bournemouth fans would recognise they are not exactly Barcelona or Real Madrid but they don’t need to be reminded by their new loan signing.

In footballing terms, Jack Wilshere has been at Bournemouth a wet week.

Signed on a season-long loan from Arsenal, the midfielder is attempting to prove a point to a lot of folks by having a positive, injury-free run at Bournemouth.

Wilshere has forced his way into the Cherries’ first team and delivered his best performance of the season, on Saturday, in a 1-0 home win over in-form Everton.

As well as Wilshere played, his new teammate Harry Arter came in for the most glowing of Match of the Day praise.

Asked about his new midfield partnership with Arter, Wilshere was glowing in his praise. Bouremouth fans may not agree with how he worded it.

Wilshere told reporters the Ireland international is ‘definitely up there with some of the midfielders I’ve played’. He continued:

“I have played with some top midfielders but it says a lot about a player when you are not at a big club like Arsenal and you are putting in performances like that.

“If he wants to, I’m sure he could go onto bigger clubs. But I’m sure he is enjoying his time at Bournemouth. The fans love him, the manager loves him and he’s got everyone’s respect at the club.”

One of those bigger, non-Bournemouth clubs then.

Perhaps Wilshere could put in a good word for Arter with Arsene Wenger.
