20-year-old Irish defender Daniel Cleary has parted ways with Liverpool.
Cleary was snapped up by the Reds from Crumlin United in 2011 and established himself well in the U18s central defence, amassing 16 appearances during the 2012/13 season.
The Irishman’s fine form saw him nail down the centre-back position in the u18s first team the following season, as he lead the appearance charts with 30 matches, scoring three goals in the campaign.
His impressive performances in the FA Youth Cup, saw him earn some high praise from Brendan Rodgers, who included the Dubliner in the 2015 preseason tour.
“He’s a very good player, he is going to have a very good career in the game. He is very committed. I have seen developments in my time, as a young player, I’ve seen him improve.”
Cleary also captained Ireland UEFA U17 Championships back in March 2013, and has played for Ireland since U-15 level.
After parting ways with Liverpool this week, Cleary sent out emotional goodbyes to the club through Twitter and Instagram.
