Bohs were trailing 2-0 to the reigning champions going into the final 25 minutes when a corner was only half cleared in the Lilywhites' area. Rather than take the ball down and look to send it back into the mixer, Byrne opted to take a first-time shot. And what a shot it was! Byrne's volley had more than a hint of the Marco van Bastens about it but it wasn't enough to wrest the result from the clutches of Dundalk, who took a 2-1 victory away from Dalymount.
