The internet had way too much fun after England’s unexpected defeat at the hands of Iceland

What a shock!

SportsJOE

For the second time in a week, England have left Europe.

While that’s not exactly grammatically correct, it’s a decent gag and one of which littered the Twittersphere during and after England’s round of 16 defeat to Iceland.

Iceland, who surprised many by making it out of Group F, beat Roy Hodgson’s men 2-1, coming from behind to score two first half goals that didn’t exactly cover goalkeeper Joe Hart in glory.

England are out of the European Championships and, bloody hell, did the internet love it?
