Aron Gunarsson dod not come to Euro 2016 looking for Cristiano Ronaldo’s jersey. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Or the wrong time, as it turned out.
The Iceland captain was famously snubbed by Ronaldo and he helped his team to a battling 1-1 draw with Portugal.
Many believe that Ronaldo told Gunarsson he would exchange jerseys ‘inside’ but the Cardiff City man never got his hands on the No.7 top.
Fans of the Icelandic team then began an online campaign with the hashtag #shirtsforaron in an effort to get the defender a Portuguese ‘Ronaldo’ jersey. On Monday, that campaign paid off.
Teammate Gylfi Sigurdsson posted a snap on Instagram [below] that proves all is well that ends well.

The jersey is not off Ronaldo’s well defined back but, if Gunarsson is lucky, we may get the great man’s autograph on it someday.
