This guy is made for TV.
Harry Redknapp was in top form on BT Sports’s Fletch & Sav show this morning and, as per usual, he pulled out a classic yarn from his managerial days.
The former West Ham and Spurs boss regaled viewers with wheeler dealer anecdote that involved his old mate, Graeme Souness.
In the summer of 1993, with the Hammers struggling in the league, Redknapp told Souness, who was then Liverpool boss, that he would reluctantly sell him his best player.
Souness asked who that was and Redknapp replied, “Julian Dicks.”
“The little, fat geezer at left-back?” Souness asked.
The deal was done for £2.5m plus two Reds players heading to Upton Park. Hazza got Dicks back for £0 a year later.
Wheeler. Dealer.
“He’ll boot lumps out of you!” A jovial @Redknapp recalls the time he sold Julian Dicks to @LFC. #FletchAndSav http://t.co/diWw3N0fyr
