In a world gone mad, some people are crazier than most.
Harry Kane may be on course for a 40-goal season and the Premier League Young Player of the Year but is Harry Kane really worthy of becoming English football’s first nine-figure transfer?
According to Rodney Marsh, he is.
The former Manchester City and England midfielder told Talksport today that the Tottenham striker is the real deal. Kane is due to start for England against Italy, this evening, three days after scoring on his international debut.
‘I have said it before,’ Marsh began, ‘I think Kane will leave Tottenham. I could be wrong and he might stay, but it’s my opinion. I reckon he’d be worth £100million, I really do. If I was a chairman of a club I’d pay it.
‘Angel Di Maria cost Manchester United £60m. I think Harry Kane is a much better player than Di Maria, in the Premier League.’
Marsh used to be a fixture on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday until some ill-timed comments forced him off the show.
He is still getting regular pundit gigs but anyone who thinks Harry Kane is worth three times more than Chelsea paid for Eden Hazard in 2012, £32m, has not been watching that much football.
