When interviews goes horribly wrong Vol. 267: Gordon Strachan.
Scotland absolutely annihilated nine-man Malta 5-1 to get their World Cup qualifying campaign off to a flying start at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium in Attard on Monday night.
Goals fro Steven Fletcher, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and a hat-trick from Robert Snodgrass secured an emphatic victory for the Scots and you’d think that manager Strachan would have been in good spirits after the dominant win.
Well, that didn’t seem to be the case when the gaffer made an appearance on Maltese television after the match. The local reporter was trying to cope with some technical difficulties and Strachan quickly ran out of patience.
“Tell Rodney to get a fucking move on,” he spat with venom on the live broadcast which caused the reporter to responded by repeating “Rodney”.
Fed up with the interview being derailed he shouted, “Who’s Rodney?” At this point they cut back to the studio and gave up on the interview completely.
