Gareth Bale’s agent can’t be helping the Welshman’s standing in the Real Madrid dressing room.
Jonathan Barnett, who’s agency also represents Jack Grealish, has made two outlandish claims about Cristiano Ronaldo. One of which is a ridiculous factual error, the other so off the mark it’s laughable.
Barnett has said that Bale will be the best player in the world in the next few years, which is very bold claim in itself, but it was his summation of Ronaldo that will have football fans scratching their heads.
“I think in the next two or three years I think he’s [Bale] going to be seen as the best player in the world,” Barnett said this week. “He wants to win the Ballon d’Or and I think he’s got a great chance.”
“You have [Cristiano] Ronaldo, who is getting to the end of his career, and [Lionel] Messi as well.”
Hold on, Jonathan, can you repeat that please?
“You have [Cristiano] Ronaldo, who is getting to the end of his career.”30 year old Ronaldo, one the most dedicated athletes in the world, who has avoided serious injury and maintained impossibly high level of form over the past few seasons is “getting to the end of his career?”Even Bale finds that one funny.
However, it appears Jonathan hasn’t exactly followed Ronaldo’s career with much interest, as the agent claims Ronaldo has been at Real Madrid for 10 years, and that Bale is now level in standing with Ronaldo after his two and a half years in Spain.
Ronaldo signed for Madrid in 2009, and Bale hasn’t proved that he’s on Ronaldo’s level.
