The footballer equivalent of Claudio Ranieri
Ah Freddy Adu.
Like that band you secretly adored while in fifth class (Girls Aloud – ‘Biology’ is a classic ) but could never tell anyone about, the American is a reminder of a simpler time in your life.
A time when every new game of football manager would contain an instant purchase of the teenage sensation, and every football magazine you’d buy would be full of the his praises as the next ‘big thing’.
His career didn’t go quite as well as we’d have hoped however as he had disappointing spells at Benfica and Monaco, before slumping to lowly football fare with of FK Jagodina in Serbia and Finnish club KuPS.
But maybe, just maybe, he could be on the verge of something wonderful again after teaming up with former USA U-20 coach Thomas Rongen at his new club Tampa Bay Rowdies.

The American won’t be coming up against Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle however as the club are only an NASL side.
The 26 year old has signed on a free transfer and the club becomes his 26th since turning pro and his 10th since 2009.
.@ThomasRongen on Adu: "He’s a very unique player, very gifted. He’s a difference-maker. He’s got superb technical ability & field awareness

Oh and in case you’ve forgotten why he now has more clubs than Hugh Hefner’s had, ahem, hot dinners, than here’s his most famous showreel on Youtube,
