As far as Cork-born Manchester United players go, Liam Miller was always going to struggle to match the likes of Roy Keane and Denis Irwin.
Old Trafford was the third stop on a career that spanned 11 clubs for Miller and the former Republic of Ireland international is now ready to impart the wisdom gleaned from working under Alex Ferguson, Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane.
Miller, currently lining out for Cork City in the SSE Airtricity League, has returned to his boyhood club in a managerial capacity.
Ballincollig AFC confirmed the appointment on Facebook this weekend and it’s understood that he will juggle his new gig in the dugout with his playing career at Turner’s Cross.
While he never truly lived up to the hype, having been heralded as the “next big thing” by many, he always knew how to strike a football.
