The Football Spin featuring the passion of Mesut Ozil, Roy Walker’s catchphrase and the Manchester United summer sale

Mesut Ozil

How much does Mesut Ozil want it?

On Sunday, Arsenal lost away from home again and Mesut Ozil was taken off as his side chased the game. But Ozil wasn’t done, throwing his coat in the direction of Marco Silva late in the game.

Ozil last started an away Premier League game in December against Brighton and was taken off after 45 minutes, so perhaps there was progress at Goodison when he lasted deep into the second half and then stayed involved by throwing his jacket towards Silva.

In the race for the top four, the defeat was a blow to Arsenal, whose weaknesses in defence again let them down.

On The Football Spin, Dion Fanning and Paddy McKenna discuss Arsenal’s problems away from home and what they will need to do to finish in the top four.

There’s also talk of an FA Cup weekend which has people talking about the magic of the competition again but Dion Fanning angrily explains why there is no magic anymore and why people should really at this stage stop talking about it.

There’s also talk of the quadruple and why it’s pointless asking a manager about something so potentially historic.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are planning a summer clear-out and Paddy and Dion discuss what Solskjaer needs to do and why there is a long road back for United.

Ahead of a huge week of Champions League football, the lads look ahead to the games and why City have nothing to fear from the atmosphere at the new Tottenham stadium , while Liverpool can’t afford to be complacent. They also discuss Jordan Henderson and why living in Steven Gerrard’s shadow is not his problem.

There’s also time to discuss catchphrases and how to imprint them in the public consciousness.
