Fifa 16 made some absolutely bizarre choices with their St Patrick’s Day special

EA Sports must be having us on with some of these selections.

As a special offer for St Patrick’s Day, Fifa 16  has some special ‘green items” available for Ultimate Teams. Gamers, you’ll know what this means. Norms, your guess is as good as mine.

Although, we’ve stumbled on the first block of failing to understand what a Fifa 16 Ultimate Team is, we are aware that what the game is trying to do is to include some  big-name Irish players in the promotion, which they have… for the most part.

Leaving aside the fact that they made the cardinal sin of not including Jonathan Walters (we’re sure there’s a valid reason for his omission), the decision to include both Jack Grealish and Stephen Ireland seems odd.

Grealish famously decided to opt to play for England at senior level last year after representing the Boys in Green at every level bar senior level. Ireland’s international career ended prematurely in 2007, after admitting to fabricating a story about his grandmother dying in order to leave the Ireland squad before a crucial tie against Czech Republic.

That’s without even mentioning Michael Harriman, who’s had a handful of caps for Ireland at underage level but has yet to make his senior debut for the Boys In Green. He also made the cut ahead of Walters.

Cheers to Thomas Curran for sending this our way. If you have something you would like to share with us, send it to editorial@sportsJOE.ie or hit us up on Facebook or Twitter.
