The age-old question has finally been answered.
Would Fernando Torres pick Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard in his ultimate five-a-side team?
While that question may not be age-old or even mildly interesting, the Spaniard has named one of the English midfield legends in a five-a-side team of players he’s played with.
Gerrard is the only former Liverpool teammate to make the grade while Petr Cech is the one player with which Torres played at Chelsea to have been given a starting place.
The remaining three spots are reserved for international colleagues as Sergio Ramos, Andres Iniesta and David Villa all fill out a side that is admirably sensible.
“Petr Čech showed me how a goalkeeper can win a Champions League final [in 2012],” Torres told UEFA.com. “At the back, Sergio Ramos because of his character and friendship. Then, of course, Gerrard – the best team-mate I played with – and Iniesta, the most talented player Spain have produced. Up front, Villa – a fantastic player who is always there when you need him.”
We always admire a player leaving himself out of the running too. Fair play, El Nino .
