‘What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.’
Victor Valdes has plenty of time to kill during his Manchester United exile.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper is said to be shipped out of Old Trafford in January but already had his hopes dashed earlier this year.
Liverpool were reportedly keen on bringing the Spanish international in as back-up to Simon Mignolet but Louis van Gaal shut that notion down.
Valdes may move to Newcastle, who are without Tim Krul long-term, for the rest of the season but van Gaal would prefer to toss him further afield. That may be Espanyol, Valdes’ old cross-city rivals from his Barca days.
This afternoon, mere hours away from United’s Champions League game with PSV Eindhoven, the goalkeeper reminded his coach of his existence.
Translated, the post reads: ‘Not to disappoint those who want to see me play again, the only motivation that pushes me to continue working. I struggle to be free and again enjoy my profession.’
Interestingly, the post was liked by United teammates Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia.
