As much as Louis van Gaal has come under fire for the style of football Manchester United have produced this season, the staggering number of injuries the club have suffered hasn’t exactly helped him.
With hopes of qualifying for next year’s Champions League with a top four finish looking increasingly unlikely, it was suggested not so long ago that winning the Europa League may be their best way of returning the the continent’s elite competition next season.
Yet again though, it seems injuries are making life difficult for United.
Already trailing 2-1 to Danish champions, FC Midtjylland, it’s now believed that Chris Smalling has joined the United injury list, having not trained yesterday.
Chris Smalling out of Utd's game against Midtjylland with a shoulder injury but should be fit for Arsenal. Rojo and Poole in squad tonight.

Several of United’s stars are already absent for the second leg clash at Old Trafford, enough to make another entire XI of full international players.
