Unsurprisingly, the result also saw plenty of United supporters calling for their manager to be replaced.
Jose Mourinho has consistently been linked with the role since United’s form took a significant nosedive in November, and the loss at the Stadium of Light is guaranteed to heighten any speculation about the former Chelsea boss heading to Old Trafford.
Plenty think it’s already a foregone conclusion, and it seems Gary Lineker is one of those people.
