Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson has been linked with a January transfer to European giants Juventus.
According to reports from Italy, the Serie A side could take a look at signing Ferguson if strikers Arkadiusz Milik and Dušan Vlahović do not return to fitness by the start of the new year.
The Bianconeri are currently forced to make do without their two senior strikers, with Vlahović expected back next week. Milik, however, faces another month on the sidelines, opening the possibility of a move for Ferguson.
The Brighton striker is expected to be on the move in January. Premier League sides Leicester City and Fulham are also reportedly interested in signing the 20-year-old.
According to The Telegraph, Brighton are open to loaning Ferguson out during the winter transfer window. The Seagulls value him at around €70m but would prefer a short-term deal to enable him to receive some much-needed game time.
Ferguson, who signed a long-term contract with Brighton until 2029, has seen his development stall following a breakout 2022/23 campaign.
A serious ankle injury sidelined him for much of 2024, and he has since been limited to just seven Premier League appearances this season—only one of which was a start.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has favoured Danny Welbeck, Joao Pedro, and Georginio Rutter in attack. The trio have helped the Seagulls reach fifth-place in the league.
Hurzeler recently stressed the importance of maintaining consistency in his lineup, adding:
"These things only come by playing together several times… if you always need to change the players, you can’t build these relationships."
A loan move would allow Ferguson to regain confidence and showcase his talent after a tough year.
The January window now looms as a crucial moment in the young striker’s career, with several clubs across Europe expected to be interested in signing him.
Ferguson has scored 17 goals in 83 games for Brighton and is one of only four players to have scored a hat-trick in the Premier League as a teenager. He has scored four goals in 18 appearances for Ireland.
