“It is not an achilles.”

Erik ten Hag has provided both good and bad news in terms of Manchester United’s injuries as games are coming thick and fast.

Lisandro Martinez was the primary concern for United fans as he had to be carried off the pitch in his last game, with what many feared was a very serious achilles injury.

The Red Devil’s manager has since confirmed that it isn’t an achilles injury and has also provided an update on Raphael Varane.

“I cannot tell what it is, but it is not an achilles,” said ten Hag. “I have spoken with him and he is okay and he is calm. I think it’s an injury that means he will not play on Sunday. I cannot say what the diagnosis is. I prefer to wait and to know what it is.”

On Varane, Ten Hag added: “That injury, he complained about it over the last couple of weeks and we have to see how it is now.”

Marcus Rashford was also ruled out with injury, which is a huge concern for United as he has been the team’s top scorer this season.

The Englishman had to limp off the pitch during his last outing, but ten Hag wouldn’t rule him out as a possibility to play Sevilla in the second leg.

“There is a chance but I can’t confirm it in this moment,” said Ten Hag, when asked if Rashford could be back in time to face Sevilla.

Unfortunately Bruno Fernandes is set to be suspended for the game, so they will need as much fire power as they can get.
