English football club try boost attendance by offering fans free beer

This is bound to end well

Robert Redmond

Do you like football? Beer? Football and beer together?

And are you in the greater Manchester area today? If the answer is ‘yes’ to all these questions, get yourself down to the Northern Premier League Premier division fixture between Curzon Ashton and Ilkeston.

Curzon are hoping to pack their Tameside Stadium for their promotion clash, and are tempting fans with the offer of free beer. That’s a potential 4,000 free pints.

To make the deal even sweeter, tickets are just £8, with students getting in for £1, which, according to the Mirror, are the cheapest prices in English football.

Free beer and admission for under a tenner? If only the Premier League had signed some mega-billion pound TV deal and could offer top-flight fans a similar deal. Oh wait…
