Elon Musk is reportedly interesting in buying a top 6 Premier League football club.
In recent weeks the billionaire owner of Tesla and Space X has been getting more and more involved in life in the UK, taking aim primarily at the politics of the nation.
He has spoken about backing Reform UK, while also sharing opinions on Nigel Farage, Keir Starmer and Tommy Robinson.
Throughout this saga, Musk has brought his interest in the UK back to one person at its source, his grandmother, who hailed from the city of Liverpool.
Posting on X he wrote: "My British grandmother, Cora Amelia Robinson, was an important part of my childhood. She was very strict, but also kind and I could always count on her."
Now, speaking to Kait Borsay on Times Radio, Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, has spoken about his son's interest in buying Liverpool FC.
Borsay asked: "Does your son want to buy Liverpool football club?"
"I can't comment on that, they'll raise the price. I can't comment on that," Errol joked.
Borsay pressed on and asked: "Has he expressed a desire to buy Liverpool football club?"
Errol responded: "Oh yes, oh yes, but that doesn't mean he's buying it, you know."
"He would like to, yes. Obviously. Anyone would want to. So would I," he added.
Errol went on to explain the close connection the Musk family have with the city.
He explained: "My mother, [Elon's] grandmother, was born in Liverpool and we have relatives in Liverpool."
"We were fortunate to know quite a few of The Beatles, because they grew up with us, my family, and so we're really attached to Liverpool," he extraordinarily added.
Despite this, Liverpool fans might be wary if they remember an incident in 2022 when Musk claimed he was going to buy Manchester United as a joke, claiming they were his favourite team growing up.
Musk has an astronomical value of £350 billion, as per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, easily more than current American owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG), who are reportedly worth a miniscule $13bn.
However, there have been no suggestions that FSG are currently open to selling the club.
