Finally, we have proof of a legendary footballer offering to play for Chapecoense.
Earlier this week, several media outlets ran stories on so-called “reports” that football icon Ronaldinho and Juan Roman Riquelme were coming out of retirement to play for Chapecoense, the Brazilian team involved in a tragic plane crash in Colombia.
These reports turned out to be absolute codswallop and based on photoshops and fake news stories, but that didn’t stop some people from eating it up.
One player who has actually offered his services to the club is former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen. The 38-year-old, who is currently a free agent after leaving Norwegian side Molde in August, announced on Twitter that he would be willing to play for Chapecoense if they needed him.
Gudjohnsen added that the prospect of reuniting with Ronaldinho – the pair were teammates at Barcelona for two seasons – would be enough of an incentive for him to tog out for the club. We must reiterate that there is no evidence to suggest that Ronaldinho has signed for Chapecoense.
Out of respect i would play for @ChapecoenseReal if they have a place for me! If not just to play with @10Ronaldinho again #ForcaChape
