You just knew Dirk Kuyt would bathe in the milky goodness of toppling Manchester United

Soak it in

Patrick McCarry

All hail Dirk Kuyt, the Diego Forlan of Liverpool FC.

The Dutch everyman ran his hole off for the Liverpool cause for seven seasons before amicably parting ways.

He did a job – he always does – for Fenerbache before heading home to The Netherlands. Kuyt scored a rake of Eredivise goals last season and has eased himself into 2016/17, his 19th season as a pro.

Kuyt had a fine game for Feyenoord, last night, as he covered most blades of grass at De Kuip, annoyed Paul Pogba and urged his team on.

Following the 1-0 win over Manchester United, Kuyt further endeared himself to Liverpool supporters. He told ITV:

“My friends in Liverpool are smiling too.

“This is a night not to forget quickly. The crowd was great and that resulted in a lovely atmosphere at De Kuip.”

He also pegged it home, got out the laptop and put this lovely montage together… or got his social media person to do it.

He may not have been an all-time great but Liverpool fans have great memories of him.

Last night, he helped provide some more.
