Sales of fine leather and Brylcreem will surely plummet in Manchester.
Diego Simeone will not be taking his fist-wagging, Pepe-punching, son-hugging antics to the Premier League just yet.
Spanish media outlet AS is reporting that Simeone is to stay put at Atletico Madrid, the team he led to La Liga title success last season.
The news will come as a sharp kick to the shins of Manchester City, who had been closely monitoring the Arentine’s contract negotiations with Atleti.
The news was ear-marked by Simeone’s sister and, handily enough, agent, Natalie, after Atletico’s league win at the weekend. She commented, ‘Surrounding the renewal of Simeone at the club, there will be good news in the next few days. The fans went home happy tonight and they will be happy again soon.’
Simeone has extended his contract with Atleti to 2020. He’ll be putting pen to paper at the Calderón tomorrow.

Typically, Guillem Balague has piped up on the whole staying put affair. He told Sky Sports, ‘He had a huge offer from City, a huge offer from PSG, from two Italian teams, but he is close to signing a new deal with Atletico Madrid until 2020.’
