Costa could be on his way back to England.
The transfer window is fast approaching and therefore the return of batshit crazy rumours and fantasy dream signings are hot conversation as each week passes by.
But for one Championship club, they could pull off one of the coups of the summer after being linked with a proven goalscorer at the highest level of the game.
Birmingham are looking for new owners
Birmingham City are looking for new owners, with their current owners reportedly willing to sell their stake in the club.
As reported by The Mirror, a consortium led by former Barcelona forward Maxi Lopez, as well as Christian Codoma and lifelong Birmingham fan Paul Richardson, are looking to acquire the club.
However, the consortium face competition from rival bidders with former Rangers director Donald Muir reportedly approached, as well as ex-Watford owner Laurence Bassini also allegedly registering an interest.
If successful, one of Lopez’s many plans includes an overhaul of the squad, and he and his partners believe that they can lure one man to St Andrews as they bid to change their fortunes.
Who is it you may ask? Well, it’s only none other than Diego Costa.
Diego Costa? As in the Diego Costa? I can hear you asking out loud.
Birmingham’s potential new owners want to sign Diego Costa if they get control of the club.

Costa is currently a free agent.
You’d be correct. The Brazilian international is a free agent after leaving Atletico Mineiro in January and is looking for a new club at the age of 34.
He is no stranger to English football having spent four years at Chelsea between 2014-2018, where he was regarded as one of the best strikers to have played for the club since Didier Drogba.
The seasoned goalscorer found the back of the net 58 times in 120 appearances for the Blues before eventually returning to Atletico Madrid in Spain.
Should Costa return to England and join Birmingham in the West Midlands, his first task will be to help them improve on their 20th place finish from this season.
