David Luiz looking for late move to Premier League rivals

Chelsea defender David Luiz will look to try and force a late move to Arsenal after apparently sitting out Blues training on Wednesday.

Luiz trained away from his teammates just four days before Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Manchester United on Sunday.

Luiz previously spent over two seasons with French giants Paris Saint-Germain before returning to Stamford Bridge in 2016 where he has played the last three seasons with Chelsea.

With Laurent Koscielny completing his move to Bordeaux earlier this week, Emery has made it no secret that he’s looking for another defender to bolster the Gunner’s backline heading into the new season.

‘We want our supporters to be happy, to be the best team with the best players,’ Emery told Sky Sports.

‘We tried to sign some important and expensive players for our defence, but we cannot do that and other second line players don’t make us really, really convinced to sign them.

‘We have centre-backs, we also have one young one in Dino Mavropanos, with everyone speaking about him and how he can improve, and Rob Holding, but if we can in the last day we are going to try to sign another centre-back with the capacity to help us, so we can have a good balance with attacking and defending players.’
