That is a lot of cash

Thankfully for lovers of competitive football, he’s going nowhere.

The agent of World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that Real Madrid have received an offer €300m for the Portuguese forward, but he has no interest in moving.

The offer came from China.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, told Sky Sports Italia that an unnamed club had offered the 31-year-old deal worth €100m-a-year but he has no interest in leaving Spanish football.

“From China, they’ve offered 300m euros to Real Madrid and more than 100m per year to the player,” Mendes said.

“But money is not everything. Real Madrid is his life. Cristiano is happy at Real Madrid and it is impossible to go to China.”

Ronaldo has just won his fourth Ballon d’Or and captained Portugal to victory in last summer’s European Championships, despite missing most of the final against France through injury.

The offer to Madrid was more than three times the world record transfer fee of €105m paid by Manchester United for Paul Pogba during the summer.
