Juventus beat AC Milan thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s heroics.
Cristiano Ronaldo played a big role in Serie A leaders Juventus’ 2-0 win over AC Milan, not just in scoring a goal but helping to deny his opponents from the penalty spot.
The Turin team went 1-0 up thanks to a goal from Mario Mandžukić eight-minutes in, however Gonzalo Higuain was given a chance to level things up shortly before half-time when the Video Assistant Referee awarded a penalty after the ball struck Medhi Benatia’s hand in the box.
Higuain’s penalty was saved by Juve goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who was just able to push the ball away from net and into the post. But footage appeared to show than Szczesny wasn’t the only one who deserved credit for the stop.
Shortly before the AC Milan striker stepped up to the spot, Cristiano Ronaldo – who spent four years playing alongside Higuain at Real Madrid – had a word in Szczesny’s ear, possibly about the direction he thought he would shoot in.

Ronaldo would later seal the win for Juve doubling the advantage 81 minutes into the game. While things went from bad to worse for Higuain who was sent after receiving a second yellow for arguing with the ref.
