Carlo Ancelloti has been backed to take over at Anfield by one of his oldest friends

Carlo loves that sign

Kevin McGillicuddy

We’re a bit disappointed if we’re honest.

If Paul Clement had any ambition about him at all, of any streak of Brendan Rodgers in his body, then he would be pushing himself forward for the now vacant job at Liverpool.

But the Derby boss is a more modest character it seems than the now former Reds’ boss, and he instead feels he knows exactly who should be taking over the reigns at Anfield.

Clement was the assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at both Real Madrid and PSG while he also spent a period working with the Italian at Chelsea.

The Englishman told Sky Sports that he feels his former mentor would be perfect for Liverpool.

“Would Carlo be suitable for that position? 100%.”

“He had a great career as a player and a sterling career as a coach as well in terms of what he has won and the clubs he has managed”

“He has got all the credibility, he is a fantastic man-manager, and he would be a perfect appointment for that club.”

The Derby boss feels that the challenge of managing at Anfield, and being successful, would be something that would interest Ancelotti greatly

“He’s going to want to be going to a big club, a club where he’s got a chance of being successful and winning.”

“And there’s certainly one available now.”

So John Henry, what more do you need, sign him up.
