“Dead-eye dick. Straight into the corner!”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational display against Spain on Friday night has been the performance of the 2018 World Cup so far, with Brian Kerr’s commentary a close second.
The former Republic of Ireland manager has been on co-commentary duty for RTE and has made the dullest of games more entertaining.
Kerr was working on Serbia’s game against Costa Rica on Sunday afternoon. Serbia won the Group E contest thanks to a brilliant free-kick from Aleksandar Kolarov, and Kerr’s commentary helped light-up an otherwise scrappy contest.
Kerr’s detailed knowledge, his authentic Dublin accent and his unique insights were well received by viewers watching at home.
Aww Brian Kerr’s commentating on RTÉ is gas #CRCvSRB #Worldcup2018Russia

If you’re in any doubt about Brian Kerr’s skills as a co-commentator, listen to him sum up Kolarov’s free-kick.
This is one of the best voices in football. Cherish him and wonder why Jim Beglin gets the big gigs. pic.twitter.com/PMpl5Khhkn

‘He’d hardly get a yella card for kicking himself would he?’

Can Brian Kerr commentate every football match from now until the end of time? Actually give him the gaelic and the rugby too, bloke's a national treasure.
