Two unnamed Brentford players came to the rescue of a man in the early hours of Sunday morning in Richmond.
According to the exclusive report from the Telegraph, the two players saw a man being attacked at around 2am, and helped diffuse the incident before the police came on the scene.
They were uninjured, but witnesses say that they had blood on them.
They had been at Brentford's 0-0 draw away to Leeds, but players were allowed make their own way home due to the international break.
The police said: “Police attended a report of an assault on Queen’s Road, Richmond at around 02:00hrs on Sunday, 22 March. Officers engaged with the victim. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.”
