Williams made the post after Norwich’s 4-0 defeat by West Ham on Sunday.

Norwich City are reportedly investigating Manchester United loanee, Brandon Williams, over a now-deleted Instagram post the full-back shared on Sunday evening.

Williams has been one of already-relegated Norwich’s better performers this season and played a full game as they were beaten 4-0 by West Ham at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon.

Williams says he was followed after the game.

After the game, he posted a picture to his Instagram Story of himself putting up a middle finger alongside the caption: ‘What a beautiful day. Easy up Norwich City.’ It was not clear who or what the gesture was directed at.

The 21-year-old followed it with another post of his dog, claiming he had been followed after the game.

‘For the people that followed me, he’s always awake,’ read the caption.

While the picture of the middle finger gesture has since been removed, the post about his dog remains.

A report by The Mirror suggests the deleted post could land Williams in trouble.

Williams expected to return to Manchester United in the summer.

Williams joined Norwich on a season-long loan from United last summer, having made his first-team debut at Old Trafford as a teenager under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Despite Norwich’s struggles, Williams has impressed during his time in Norfolk, holding down a regular starting berth under Daniel Farke and then Dean Smith.

During last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa, a banner urging him to extend his stay at Carrow Road into next season was unfurled in the Villa Park away end.

Williams is expected to head back to United for preseason, where Erik ten Hag will assess his squad before any decisions are made about the young defender’s future.
