The rogue tweet was in the Twitter ether for 10 minutes before it was spotted and removed
Bohemians FC have told SportsJOE that their Twitter account was compromised and that no member of their staff – full-time or ancillary – was responsible for the anti Shamrock Rovers tweet that was send out this morning.
The tweet has since been deleted and an apology issued on the club’s behalf. A club spokesperson told us, ‘Our webmaster got a call from one of our fans about the tweet. Our account was accessed by someone other than the four people that have the log-in details. We contacted each of them and no-one sent that message.
‘Obviously nobody from the club put that up.’
The club will follow up with their webmaster and Twitter to ascertain who the culprit was.
We would like to apologise for an earlier tweet – our account was compromised.
