If you trust the movement of the betting markets, then it looks like Martin O’Neill might be leaving his job as Republic of Ireland manager prematurely.
According to the Leicester Mercury, William Hill has suspended betting on O’Neill taking over at Leicester City, while other sites have slashed the odds dramatically.
O’Neill had previous success with the Foxes between 1995-2000, guiding them to the Premier League and winning a League Cup with the club.
Leicester recently fired Nigel Pearson despite a strong finish to the season that saw them finish clear of relegation. Were O’Neill to join the Premier League club now, Roy Keane might finish out the Euro 2016 qualification campaign as manager or perhaps, O’Neill could be persuaded to double-job until November (presuming Ireland don’t qualify).
