Is it only a matter of time before the striker joins Liverpool?
Aston Villa fans are having a rough few days. Club captain Fabian Delph appears to be on the move to Manchester City, for a paltry £8 million, and it looks like star striker Christian Benteke won’t be far behind.
The Belgian has been repeatedly linked with a move to Liverpool, with the two clubs reportedly unable to agree a fee. Villa are holding out for around £32 million, while Liverpool have, so far, only being prepared to offer £25 million.
Benteke is currently in Portugal, at a pre-season training camp with Villa, but the club have dropped a big hint the player won’t be long for Villa Park.
The striker, and Delph, have been removed from the masthead on the club’s Twitter account.

In the post-modern, digital age this arguably counts as a sign of an impending transfer.
It seems the Villa are now instead looking promote up their local players in the form of Ciaran Clark, Jack Grealish and Gabby Agbonlahor.
