Argentina’s FA headquarters evacuated after bomb threat

Anonymous tip-off

SportsJOE

Argentina’s FA headquarters in Buenos Aires was evacuated on Monday afternoon due to a bomb threat.

ESPN report that, according to claims in Argentina, an anonymous tip-off resulted in the building being evacuated.

Argentina fell short in the Copa America final on Sunday night for the second consecutive year, with Lionel Messi missing in the penalty shootout.

Messi subsequently announced his retirement and there are suggestions that the likes of Sergio Aguero, Javier Mascherano and Lucas Biglia could follow suit.

The final defeat comes just days after it was announced that an emergency Fifa panel had been assigned to take control of the federation’s affairs.

The AFA has drawn much criticism for the way it has been run in recent years and Messi publicly criticised them on Instagram only last week in an Instagram post that translated to “Once again waiting on a plane to leave for our destination. What a disaster the AFA are. My god!”
