Manchester United finally ‘willing to cash in’ on Andreas Pereira

Simon Lloyd

More bad news, Manchester United fans? Step right this way…

Your team are awful, your manager doesn’t seem to know how the fix it, and David De Gea, one of few players you’d actually want to stick around, appears to be nearing an exit.

And if reports are to be believed, De Gea may not be the only member of United’s current squad who could be set to depart Old Trafford in the not-too-distant future. Andreas Pereira, The Mirror claims, could also be on his way.

The Brazil international had spent the last two season out on loan in Spain with Granada and Valencia, and returned to Manchester in the summer with high hopes of establishing himself as a regular starter in United’s midfield.

With just two starts to his name in the league this season, this clearly hasn’t happened, and it’s now claimed United are open to cashing in on the 22-year-old.

Pereira

Pereira’s contract expires in the summer, and although United have a one-year extension option, the report claims Jose Mourinho is willing to let him go.

There is interest in him from abroad, with Monaco and Inter Milan both said to be keen on acquiring him. Valenica, too, are interested in taking him back on a permanent basis.

Despite this, the Belgium-born midfielder is thought to be keen to remain in the Premier League, with both Arsenal and Chelsea thought to be potential destinations.

Arsenal’s head of transfers, Sven Mislintat, is said to have identified Pereira as a useful addition to Unai Emery’s squad, whereas Chelsea, despite having plenty of midfielders on their books at this moment of time, could make a move for him once players have been sold in the coming transfer window.
