Andrea Pirlo has a New York sandwich named after him, could life get any better?

Of course there's salami

The final piece of the Pirlo puzzle has been put in place and he can retire now.

Champions League, World Cup and now the Italian legend has reached his greatest achievement yet as he’s had a sandwich named after him.

It was never going to take long for the former Juventus midfielder and universally agreed coolest man on the planet to capture the hearts of New Yorkers after his move to MLS this summer.

And Pirlo, who recently registered a sumptuous assist for new teammate David Villa, has been immortalised in sandwich form by New York deli No. 7 Sub which is often frequented by staff from the MLS offices in New York.

The Prilo’s (weirdly misspelled) ingredients are as mysterious as its enigmatic muse with pickled blueberries the unusual accoutrement to the salami, fried zucchini and mozzarella.

We find it almost offensive that the sambo hasn’t been given a wine pairing because everyone knows that Mr Pirlo loves a healthy glass of red.
