Anderson: Manchester United fans ‘have a lot of affection for me’

Sure they do Anderson, sure they do.

Robert Redmond

Manchester United flop Anderson believes the club’s fans love him and hasn’t given up hope of things working out at the club.

There’s a chapter devoted to the midfielder in ‘The Agent One’, a new biography of Jorge Mendes. The Portuguese super-agent counts Anderson, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho amongst his clients (no prizes for guessing who his least favourite among those three are) and the book details how his numerous transfer deals were brokered.

Anderson joined United from Porto for £26million in 2007, has made only 70 Premier League appearances and wasn’t even on the bench for United’s FA Cup tie with League Two side Cambridge United.

However, the Brazilian still thinks he can make a success of his Old Trafford career. ‘This year I’m working really hard to try and regain the confidence of the coaches, because I have a lot of love for this club,’ Anderson insists, but is surprisingly not the most perplexing thing he says.

‘I really like Manchester, I’ve spent a long time here and the fans have a lot of affection for me’.

Sure they do Anderson, sure they do.
