A justified bone of contention from a born winner, or decidedly rich coming from an out of form player?
Either way, Alexis Sanchez’s teammates may not appreciate the comments he made in his native tongue following the North London outfit’s home defeat to Swansea City on Wednesday night.
Speaking to DirecTV Sports, and translated by Sport Witness, the Chilean certainly wasn’t pulling any punches when it came to why his Arsenal side were failing so dismally in their title charge.
Having only picked up nine points from a possible 24 in their last eight games, Sanchez feels that both hunger and a genuinely winning mentality are missing from the side.
“With the players we have, I think we can win the Premier League. However, we are lacking a bit of hunger,” complained Sanchez. “Entering the field with the mentality of winning 1-0. We aren’t believing in ourselves, thinking we can be champions.”
The comments certainly won’t be welcomed by Arsene Wenger, who is having to fend off accusations that Arsenal simply lack the heart for the battle when the going gets tough.
