The Republic of Ireland winger may now be cutting in and dragging his shots wide in sunny Spain.
Aiden McGeady could be packing his bags and jetting off to Seville in the coming days as the La Liga side have reportedly made a loan offer to Everton.
The Guardian report that Sevilla are prepared to pay McGeady’s wages [in the region of £50k a week] to secure his services until the end of this season.
The 29-year-old had interest from Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday and Blackburn Rovers but was not keen on dropping to the Championship. Celtic, his former club, wanted assistance paying his wages so The Toffees saw that as a non-runner.
West Brom made tentative enquiries but did not pursue the matter.
McGeady has played for Unai Emery, the Sevilla coach, before. The pair were at Spartak Moscow together in 2012.
Having just played once for Everton all season, and fallen down the Ireland pecking order for midfield berths, McGeady should jump at the chance of playing for last season’s Europa League champions. He has until Monday to make his mind up.
