Daniel Cleary has reportedly found himself a new club.
After spending five years with Liverpool, the Irish defender was deemed surplus to requirements by Jurgen Klopp this summer and was in the hunt for a new team.
Fortunately, it seems as though that search is over as HITC Sport are reporting that the 20-year-old is close to securing a deal with Championship outfit Birmingham.
Cleary was snapped up by the Reds in 2011 after impressing for Crumlin United but never established himself as a first team option under Brendan Rodgers or Jurgen Klopp and the club decided against renewing the underage international’s contract this summer, despite the undeniable potential owned by the centre-half.
“He is very committed”, former Reds boss Rodgers said of Cleary.
“I have seen developments in my time, as a young player, I’ve seen him improve.”
A free agent since May, Cleary had many eyes monitoring him but it seems as though he’s set for St Andrew’s as Birmingham manager Gary Rowett is thought to be a big fan of the young defender

The Dubliner is expected to join up with the Blues’ development squad before promptly being moved into first team contention.
Let’s hope his career can kick on from here.
