Louis van Gaal to loan Adnan Januzaj out as he plots transfer steal from Liverpool

One winger for another

If he doesn’t rate you, he doesn’t rate you.

Louis van Gaal is reportedly considering loaning out Manchester United’s shining light from the 2013/14 season in order to put together a championship-challenging team for 2015/16.

The Dutchman is still interested in getting PSV midfielder Memphis Depay in the door, over the summer. Van Gaal worked with Depay closely up to, and at, the 2014 World Cup and wants to add some pace and incision to his midfield.

On Saturday, PSV sporting director Marcel Brands commented that PSG and Liverpool were ‘one step ahead’ in the race to sign up the 22-year-old.

Now, it appears that Van Gaal, could well overtake their transfer rivals by dangling another young player that appeared at the World Cup.

Van Gaal remains unconvinced that Belgium’s Adnan Januzaj is the finished article. The winger was one of the only United players to emerge from David Moyes’ season at the helm.

Januzaj has struggled to repeat those impressive performances. In 2013/14, he scored four goals and had five assists. This season, used primarily as a sub by Van Gaal, he has one goal and one assist.

PSV appear keen on the deal. So much so that Brands name-dropped Januzaj in his ‘one-step ahead’ interview.

He commented, ‘If such a player like Adnan Januzaj would like to come and play Champions League football, you have a chance of making a temporary move.’

Certainly is one way to start a transfer rumour.
