German sportswear giant Adidas have terminated their contract with Sunderland midfielder Adam Johnson.
The decision comes after Johnson pleaded guilty to to one count of sexual activity with a child and one count of grooming at Bradford crown court on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old admitted to kissing a 15-year-old girl as well as grooming her over the internet, but has denied two further charges of sexual activity.

In a statement, Adidas said: ‘Adidas can confirm that it has terminated its contract with footballer Adam Johnson with immediate effect. This follows his guilty pleas entered earlier this week.’
Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Johnson will not play any part in this weekend’s clash with Manchester United, and the winger is unlikely to feature at any point of his two-week trial, which starts on Friday.
