19-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma pulls off miraculous point-blank save

He celebrated accordingly

This could turn out to be the save that hands Juventus the title

The Serie A title chase is the closest it’s been in years this season. Napoli have enjoyed an incredible season, playing scintillating football that has attracted a lot of praise from fans all over the world. Their title push took a hit this afternoon though, as they could only manage a draw against AC Milan at the San Siro.

Not for the first time, 19-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was Milan’s saviour, as he pulled off a miraculous save in stoppage time to ensure the points were shared.

Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik received the ball just a few yards out and quickly fired off a shot that would have nestled into the corner if it were not for Donnarumma’s cat like reflexes.
You can see how much Napoli will lament missing that chance, as Milik dropped to his knees after seeing it tipped wide.

Juventus now have a three point cushion at the top and play Sampdoria later this afternoon. Should they win and create a six point gap between them and Napoli, Maurizio Sarri’s team will need to win all of their remaining games, including one against Juve, and hope that Juve lose again before the end of the season.

It’s not beyond the realms of possibility – Juve still have to play both Milan teams as well as Roma – but it does seem unlikely that Napoli will win their first title since the days of Diego Maradona.
