This could turn out to be the save that hands Juventus the title
The Serie A title chase is the closest it’s been in years this season. Napoli have enjoyed an incredible season, playing scintillating football that has attracted a lot of praise from fans all over the world. Their title push took a hit this afternoon though, as they could only manage a draw against AC Milan at the San Siro.
Not for the first time, 19-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was Milan’s saviour, as he pulled off a miraculous save in stoppage time to ensure the points were shared.
Juventus now have a three point cushion at the top and play Sampdoria later this afternoon. Should they win and create a six point gap between them and Napoli, Maurizio Sarri’s team will need to win all of their remaining games, including one against Juve, and hope that Juve lose again before the end of the season.
It’s not beyond the realms of possibility – Juve still have to play both Milan teams as well as Roma – but it does seem unlikely that Napoli will win their first title since the days of Diego Maradona.
