Never meet your heroes, unless you get asked to play football with them.
Think of the best adventure you ever got up to on your Easter school holidays. Then keep it to yourself as Antonio Trograncic’s tale will trump yours all day.
The 15-year-old, was invited to train with Bayern Munich’s senior team by head coach Pep Guardiola.
Bayern’s youth side snapped up the 4-foot-11 footballing prodigy from Red Bull Salzburg, 18 months ago, and Pep was eager to get an up-close scout.
With many of the German side’s top stars off on international duty, Guardiola called the teenager in to train with the likes of Philipp Lahm, Rafinha and Dante. With 200 spectators willing him on, Trograncic slotted home a penalty.
The young German has played for Croatia’s Under-14 team – his father is a Croat – but the German Football Association are trying to woo him. Perhaps that is why he was given a taste of life as a senior pro with the Bayern lads.
Incidentally, Trograncic was born on New Years’ Day, 2000.
