11 of the best Valentine’s Day football poems

Love is in the air...

Tom Victor

Valentine’s Day is all about one thing: that’s right, football.

Today marks the return of the Champions League, the anniversary of Kolo Touré’s one and only Liverpool goal, and an opportunity for football fans around the world to pay tribute to the most beautiful person game in their life.

As you’re probably well aware, Valentine’s Day brings out the best – and worst – in off-the-cuff poetry. And arguably the worst kind of bad poetry is bad football poetry.

If we’re getting more specific, it’s bad football poetry set to the old favourite ‘Roses are Red…’.
