The opportunity of a lifetime for Niall Kennedy.
Ahead of his fight with Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev at the end of this month, Unified Heavyweight World Champion Anthony Joshua has invited Wexford Heavyweight Niall Kennedy to his camp for sparring.
The Gorey based Garda travelled to Sheffield this morning, where he will take part in sparring with the Watford native over the next few days.
Kennedy is Ireland’s top heavyweight boxer at the minute, having defeated Alexis Santos at Foxwoods last month. This came on the back of his watershed triumph over Jesse Barboza for the Massachusetts State title in March.
Soon after, he was signed up by Murphy’s boxing.
This is another great opportunity for the 33-year-old, and hopefully his career will kick on from here.

Joshua’s fight takes place on the 28th October in the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, on a card that also features Bray’s Katie Taylor.

Hat-tip to Irish boxing for noticing this.
