It's on!

Carl Frampton gets the chance to solidify himself as the best super bantamweight in Europe when he takes on Scott Quigg next February.

Frampton puts his IBF title on the line against Quigg’s WBA crown in the most anticipated bout at 122 lbs.

The announcement came live on Sky Sports News on Monday evening with both fighters, Frampton’s manager Barry McGuigan and Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn present.

The bout will take place at the Manchester Arena on February 27 and will be aired live on Sky Sports Box Office.

The Jackal looked less than impressive in his last outing when he was expected to finish the unheralded Alejandro González, Jr. before being dropped in the first round. Frampton went on to take the decision but it was the first time in his perfect career that some chinks in his armour were visible.

Neither fighter has experienced a loss in their professional career with the only blemishes on either record coming by way of two Quigg draws in 2012 and 2013.

The bout has been discussed for months now and became something of an inevitability when Quigg stopped Kiko Martínez in July.

“I’m delighted that we have finally got this fight signed,” Frampton said. “The fight everyone has wanted for years, none more so than myself.

“I’m the legitimate champion and I’m going to his backyard to defend my title because that’s what champions do. On February 27 the fans will find out who the real champion is, I’m going to win this fight in style.”
